Conformal differential geometry - the ambient metric and tractor connection 1

This talk is mainly about the Fefferman-Graham ambient metric construction from 1985. In its conformally flat version, it was already used by Dirac in 1935 to construct the conformal Laplacian on the sphere by what is now know as holography in the AdS/CFT correspondence.
