This talk is mainly about the tractor connection. It may be viewed as a first order version of the ambient metric construction and coincides with a construction of T.Y. Thomas from 1926. It is equivalent to the Cartan connection in conformal geometry (from 1923) already presented in the talks by Andreas Cap. This talk will also discuss the role of the tractor connection in the classification of conformally invariant differential operators.
