Lecture 3: Gravitons in a Casimir box

Glenn Barnich (ULB, Brussels)

Sep 16. 2021, 11:00 — 12:00

In the case of linearized gravity, we derive the analog of perfectly conducting boundary conditions. Under these boundary conditions, the degrees of freedom of the theory are again encoded into those of a free massless scalar field with periodic boundary conditions on an interval of length twice the separation of the plates. As a consequence, all results derived previously for photons directly generalize to the case of gravitons.
