Uniform Distribution: A Dutch-Austrian Success Story

Harald Niederreiter (RICAM, Linz)

Apr 22. 2025, 15:45 — 16:15

The classical part of the theory of uniform distribution of sequences owes a lot to the contributions by Dutch and Austrian mathematicians. The talk sketches these contributions from the beginnings in the 1920s up to the mid 1970s. Links and cooperations between Dutch and Austrian researchers in the area are particularly emphasized.
