Singularity formation for a geometric wave equation.

Joachim Krieger (EPFL, Lausanne)

Jun 12. 2024, 15:15 — 16:15

This talk will discuss certain recent developments in our understanding of singularities and their stability properties for the energy critical wave maps model with target S^2. Motivating these singular solution will also entail a discussion of the remarkably strong local well-posedness properties of this model, which set it apart from other 'less natural' models.
I will in particular discuss joint work with S. Miao and W. Schlag.
