Next-to-leading power factorization for collider observables

Robert Szafron (BNL, Upton)

Aug 10. 2023, 11:30 — 12:30

I will discuss the challenges in applying existing soft-collinear effective field theory methods to resum power-suppressed large logarithmic corrections in collider physics. In my talk, I will focus on the thrust distribution in the two-jet region, specifically the flavor-nonsinglet off-diagonal contribution, where a gluon-initiated jet recoils against a power-suppressed quark-antiquark pair. I will discuss operatorial endpoint factorization conditions that cure endpoint divergences in convolution integrals and allow for systematic resummation using renormalization group methods.
