Invariant Random Subgroups (IRSs) are a well-studied probabilistic concept which can be seen as a way to generalize normal subgroups. In a joint work with Tattwamasi Amrutam and Yair Hartman we extend this concept to Invariant Random sub-von Neumann Algebras (IRAs). In particular, we study amenable invariant random subalgebras, and their relation to amenable invariant (non-random) subalgebras.
