Microlocal Analysis in Tomography

Todd Quinto (Tufts University)

Jun 10. 2026, 15:10 — 15:40

In this talk, I will show some of the ways microlocal analysis can be used to understand practical inverse problems, in particular in tomography. Microlocal analysis is, in part, a precise theoretical framework to understand singularities of functions (and distributions) and how they behave under a broad range of operators (Fourier integral operators). After providing insight into some fundamental principles, I will apply microlocal analysis to two Compton tomography problems.
