We introduce an extended kinematics for nominally elastic solids that incorporates a micro-displacement tensor to describe interactions with micro-scale loading devices. This framework captures both active incompatibility acquisition and its passive relaxation, and allows for a consistent energetic description of surface deposition under micro-mechanical controls. We illustrate the approach with two case studies: crystallization from a melt producing pre-stress, and controlled winding of a pre-stretched coil.
