Extreme statistics in molecular and cellular biology

David Holcman (ENS Paris)

Jun 13. 2025, 10:00 — 10:30

An increasing number of questions in cell biology and biophysics can be framed as rare stochastic events. After highlighting key examples, I will present asymptotic computations of the Fokker-Planck equation and discuss computational methods. Focusing on synaptic transmission, I will show how modeling and simulations have been instrumental in uncovering molecular organizations, validated by super-resolution microscopy.
