Line-of-sight effects in strong gravitational lensing

Strong-lensing systems are tradiitonally described as if the deflector were alone in an otherwise homogeneous-isotropic universe. In reality, however, the inhomogeneities around the line of sight contribute to the formation of images. I'll discuss how to model such perturbations to strong lensing, and potential applications in cosmology.
