The geneeral principles for mapping information from electrinic structure theory to spin-Hamiltonians is preThe general principles for mapping information from electronic structure theory to spin-Hamiltonians is presented in this talk, hence illuminating a multiscale method that bridges length scales of electronic structure theory and theory of atomistic magnetization dynamics. Applications will be illustrated for several systems, and spin-orbit effects will be discussed specifically. Among the examples discussed skyrmion formation, due to the relativistic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, will be discussed for several systems, and dynamics of skyrmions will be presented. Finally a multiscale method that combines atomistic and micromagnetic approaches will be presented in this talk.
