We prove distributional convergence to a stable law for functions $\phi: [0,1]\rightarrow R$, most of form $\phi(x)=d(x,x_0)^{-1/\alpha}$, $0<\alpha<2$, on Gibbs-Markov maps and, in some parameter regimes, intermittent-type maps.
