Finite difference schemes for several partial differential equations for the atmosphere and the ocean

Jean-Pierre Croisille (U Lorraine)

May 23. 2023, 14:45 — 15:30

We will address the design of high order finite difference schemes for two classes of equations. First the Munk equation. This is a model
for sharp boundary layers related to western boundary currents in oceanography. Second we will review several questions on using the Cubed Sphere grid for the Shallow Water equations. Various numerical and convergence analysis results will be discussed in the two cases.
