In the lecture I will introduce a variational approach to hyperbolic evolutions and fluid-structure interactions. The approach was developed in collaboration with B. Benesova and M. Kampschulte. In consequence several new well-posedness results for solid evolutions driven by inertia and fluid-solid interactions were shown. In the lecture I shall discuss some of them.
