Research in Teams: O-Minimality in Interaction

Project: The proposed project brings together mathematicians working with o-minimal structures in order to consider three aspects in which o-minimality naturally appears in, and contributes to, various fields of mathematics. These aspects are discussed in detail below. Since the team members contribute different expertises, with Aschenbrenner in Hardy fields (which are used to study the asymptotic behavior of definable functions in o-minimal structures), Maříková  in the general theory of o-minimality, and Peterzil and Starchenko with extensive previous work on definable groups and the geometry of definable sets in o-minimal structures, we anticipate meaningful synergies to arise during a joint research stay at ESI.

Research Team: Matthias Aschenbrenner (U of Vienna), Jana Maříková (U of Vienna), Ya’acov Peterzil (U of Haifa), Sergei Starchenko (U of Notre Dame)

Dates of Stay: May 25 - July 5, 2026
