Scattering theory and non-commutative analysis

The primary aim of this research effort is to understand how the spectral shift function, a fundamental object in scattering theory, generalizes spectral flow to non-Fredholm situations, possibly via the use of higher-order spectral shift functions which were recently established in the context of higher trace ideals.
