Research in Teams Project: Blackbody Radiation Induced Inertial Effects and Collective Phenomena - Theoretical Basis and Experimental Feasibility - Part 1-3

Partially postponed du to Covid-19

Research Project:
The aim of this project is to establish a theoretical description for non-equilibrium thermal radiation forces on neutral particles as they were predicted and measured by some of the team members and collaborators.
In addition, thermal friction forces and thermal radiation induced collective phenomena of atoms will be investigated for realistic experimental setups. This may lead to the design of new exciting experiments to measure such effects with cold atoms, in particular, by using matter wave interferometric techniques.

Research Team: Philipp Haslinger (TU Vienna), Francesco Intravaia (Humboldt University Berlin), Dennis Rätzel (Humbolt University Berlin), Matthias Sonnleitner (U Innsbruck)

Dates of Stay:
February 25 - March 1, 2019
