Using your own Laptop at the ESI
If you bring your own laptop and if you have a working network card with a
10baseT (twisted pair telco-style cables with RJ-45 eight wire `phone' connectors)
connector, you can connect your laptop to the ESI network.
We recommend that you configure your your laptop to use DHCP.
Alternatively, we also have a wlan which supports eduroam.
For your security, the security of the other guests, and the security of the ESI
computersystem, you must ensure that all relevant security
updates for your operating system are applied to your laptop, particularly
if you use some version of Microsoft Windows! If this is not the
case, or if security updates are no longer available for your operating
system, you must not connect your laptop to the ESI
network!
You can also print to our main printer copynix using the following data:
- Connection Type: LPR / LPD (IP Printing)
- Printer Address: copynix.esi.ac.at
- Printer Queue: lp
- Printer Model: Generic Postscript
Moreover, you can use our main server keen.esi.ac.at as SMTP
(outgoing mail) server from within the institute.
Please mail comments about this page to www-admin@esi.ac.at.
