Asymptotic Structure and BMS Symmetries in Any Dimension

Federico Capone (U of Jena)

Apr 19. 2024, 11:00 — 11:30

I will discuss the asymptotic structure at null infinity and the associated symmetries in any spacetime dimension greater or equal to four. In the first part, I discuss to what extent the bulk can be holographically reconstructed from the general
data at null infinity and show that the solution is polyhomogeneous in the radial Bondi coordinate.  Only the logarithms at the order of mass, angular momentum and radiation are independent. The latter bears a strking resemblance with the logarithm that in AdS/CFT is related to Weyl anomalies. In the second part, I  provide the minimal example of a bulk phase space that realises the  connection between BMS and soft theorems in higher even dimensions by defining Supertranslation and Superrotation charges via a local and covariant renormalization procedure.
