Quantum Paths

The programme “Quantum Paths” aims to address the intriguing behaviors of many-body quantum systems, particularly those in one and two spatial dimensions which give rise to novel states of matter. Many-body quantum systems, either cold atoms or spin systems, have become experimentally accessible during the last decade and their understanding constitutes one of the main frontiers of modern theoretical physics. The programme will focus, in particular, on quantum systems at and away from equilibrium, quench dynamics, quantum integrability, quantum field theory, tensor product state formalism and entanglement. We plan to gather together leading theoretical and experimental experts on these fields in order to identify new research directions and to stimulate a stronger collaboration among the various international groups. The balance between the theoretical and experimental expertise will be an essential feature of the programme, aiming at achieving a better understanding – from different perspectives – of the many new quantum aspects discovered in the last years and to establish a very fruitful interaction theory-experiments. During the two months of the programme, moreover, there will be delivered a series of lectures by outstanding speakers on topics of wide scope and interest in quantum physics.

A Conference "Quantum Paths in Low Dimensions: Theory and Experiment” will take place in the first week from April 9 to 13, 2018.
