The Erwin Schroedinger Institute for Mathematical Physics

Concepts of Probability in the Sciences

The symposium is organized by the association Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematical Physics in cooperation with the University of Vienna.  It is noconceived as a research conference for specialists but rather as a survey of the many facets of the probability concept, presented by experts in various disciplines and aimed at practitioners. The target audience consists of interested researchers and students from the local community, in particular in physics, mathematics and the life sciences, who use probabilistic concepts regularly but often without giving much thought to foundational issues.
