Erwin Schrödinger Institute

Programme in Scattering Theory

Special semester, March 1-July 31, 2001

The Erwin Schrödinger Institute (ESI) will host a special semester with the title Programme in Scattering Theory during the period March 1-July 31, 2001. The organizers are

Vesselin Petkov (Université de Bordeaux I),
András Vasy (Massachusetts Institute of Technology),
Maciej Zworski (University of California, Berkeley).

Scattering theory is of central importance in many branches of mathematics and physics. The goal of the programme is to bring together experts with different perspectives and interests. Particular topics will include the N-body problem, theory of quantum resonances, quantum chaos in the context of scattering, and analysis on locally symmetric spaces.

We are planning to conduct two workshops as part of the programme, both intended to cover a wide range of topics. The first workshop will take place March 26-30, 2001, and the second one May 21-25, 2001. In addition, we anticipate that many participants will be present for extended periods throughout the semester. Below we tabulated the official responses of the participants who provided, to the ESI administration, the dates of their visit by May 3, 2001.

There will a series of talks in the programme during the first week of July, around July 3-6. The dates of stays of the speakers, as well as the titles of their talks are given below. The still preliminary schedule of the talks appears afterwards.
